CJ Starr
CJ Starr
CJ Starr was raised across the Midwest, but his comedy was born in Texas. His storytelling style connects with audiences everywhere, pulling big laughs from the chaos of real life through the lens of a seasoned man who’s still figuring out what he wants to be when he grows up.
CJ’s comedy is rooted in lived experience. From growing up in a semi-single-parent household to navigating a biracial relationship, raising kids and grandkids, surviving bad career choices, a brief stint in community college, jail time, and everything in between—nothing is off limits. His material is honest, versatile, and deeply relatable, which is why his fan base spans every walk of life. If you’ve lived a little or a lot, you’ll see yourself in CJ’s stories.
He has performed at major comedy festivals, including the Oddball Comedy Festival and Gilda’s LaughFest (three consecutive years). CJ has also appeared on television, including LMAO on Jewish Life TV, Shed G’s Clean Comedy, and Laughs on FOX (four episodes), also streaming on Hulu.
CJ was a finalist in Kenan Thompson’s Ultimate Comedy Experience and was voted Funniest Comic in Texas.
Beyond stand-up, CJ continues to expand his creative footprint as a writer for Apple TV projects and multiple YouTube web series. He has also taught Intro to Comedy classes, helping develop the next generation of comedians.
In the past year alone, CJ has performed over 300 shows, launched his tour This Isn’t Lovely, and worked closely with actor Jeremy Piven on his nationwide theater tour, including the filming of Piven’s comedy special.
CJ currently hosts the podcast Doorway Confessions, set to launch in mid-2026.
